On Star Wars Day, celebrated across the galaxy, the Galactic Republic Historical Institute announced that, according to new research, the Force and the Jedi originated on the planet Earth—in the Asian continent of the northern hemisphere, within the Chinese Empire.

A spokesperson for the Historical Institute said the research was based mainly on several works about the martial-arts history of the Chinese Empire by its historian, Dr. Louis Cha Leung-Yung:

The Legend of the Condor Heroes

The Return of the Condor Heroes

Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre

(Together, the three books above are known as the Condor Trilogy.)

The Smiling, Proud Wanderer

In these works, Dr. Louis devotes many pages to the history of the Chinese Empire’s homegrown religious sect, the Wu-Tang Clan, and to its legendary martial-arts battles.

For centuries, the Wu-Tang Clan ruled the Chinese Empire’s underworld, known as the River and Lake. Its warriors mastered a mysterious power called Inner Force and an unbeatable sword style known as Tai Chi Sword.

The Institute believes that Inner Force was an early name for the Force, that lightsaber combat descended from Tai Chi Sword, and that the Jedi are heirs to the Wu-Tang Clan.

The Institute also released a newly discovered video from the Republic’s film archive as evidence for its finding.

Filmed during the Galactic Empire, this martial-arts tutorial shows Anakin Skywalker, the upright and noble Jedi who became Imperial Marshal Darth Vader, demonstrating the Tai Chi sword style to the stormtroopers.

The sword manual, titled “42 Movement Straight Sword,” was translated by the Historical Institute’s subtitle department as follows:
